The Magic Toy Theatre

A wonderful old toy theatre which sets the scene and theme for magic in miniature. Hand painted playing cards form the characters within the theatre. A perfect show for the smallest of audiences of all ages sitting around the theatre with the magician storytelling the proceedings. Stunning magic up close and created by the guests.

The toy theatre, possibly a grand toy for a family of a bygone age, found and dusted off, cobwebs removed, scripts, props and scenery found in old cardboard boxes, and turned into a magic theatre. The stage is set. The magic is as always very close, audience participation a plenty for those who wish to participate. All scenes are staged to classical music.

For those who are intrigued by what happens backstage. Scenery is encouraged to be drawn as part of this performance by audience members. Guests can also help pull the many ropes and turn the wheels and cogs which make this model theatre work in performance. You will also have a fascinating insight to how backstage of theatres big or small work.

Such good story telling fun.

Duration: 75 minutes. There is no interval.

'Lovely little magic show with lots of opportunities for audience participation, kept all the children engaged. Richard was particularly good at giving the younger audience members activities while waiting for the show to start, which he then incorporated into the performance. We all enjoyed his light hearted, friendly style and came out smiling and genuinely wondering how he had done some of the tricks!'

'The first thing that struck me was that the theatre – it was dark and quite mysterious adding to the atmosphere of the show. The magic show revolved around the fact that all characters took on the life of each of the cards. This was very much a show for young children and it was even better as many took a part in the show as cards. The level of magic was really very impressive and the children were as blown away as I was!'

The Art of Magic

An addition to any of the above shows, my framed hand-painted art is displayed in the foyer, corridors or in a separate room or gallery. Within the seasons of multiple shows scheduled, this art gallery is a magical teaser for what’s to come.  Always changing with new works added, the gallery is an attraction in itself.

In the past I have used this created gallery room to paint and meet with guests who maybe interested in seeing the artwork being added to a poster or future prop of which will eventually end up in presentation.

All pieces of art are all hand painted in watercolour, ink and acrylic. The art can be displayed in the Secret Showman magic theatre space and photographed for website and promotional purposes for the magic shows.

This is an ever increasing collection of painted scenes from the magic routines within my shows.

Below is a small selection of my magic art from my Secret Shows. Enjoy!

Only one question remains.
